Magalhães to come back stronger in Ypres

Bruno Magalhães has vowed to come back even stronger when he returns to the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on the Geko Ypres Rally from 23-25 June.

The Peugeot Sport Portugal star will skip the next round of the series, the Prime Yalta Rally, but will be back in action in Belgium.

“Ukraine is a long way to go for our team from Portugal and the budget is too much,” said the 30-year-old. “Our next rally will be Ypres where I hope to improve my pacenotes and the set-up of the car. We learned a lot in Corsica but I still need to work on the pacenotes [with my co-driver Paulo Grave].”

Magalhães shot up to eighth position in the IRC drivers’ standings by finishing fifth on Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc last week following a late charge.

He remains the only Portuguese driver to have won a round of the IRC, a feat he achieved on Sata Rallye Açores last July.
