Magalhães makes support for Japan call
“It’s a terrible situation in Japan”
Bruno Magalhães has called on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge community to support the Run for Japan event, which will take place on Las Canteras beach on Friday morning (15 April).
The run is a joint initiative between the IRC promoter Eurosport Events and the local event organiser. It will be open to all drivers, co-drivers, teams, media representatives and members of the public and starts at 10:00hrs. Competitors will be asked to make a donation of five Euros to help support the people of Japan.
“It’s a terrible situation in Japan,” said Magalhães. “Unfortunately this kind of event is the only thing we can do to help. Tomorrow will be very important and I think everybody comes with a very strong motivation to give a lot of support to Japan.”
Prior to the run taking place, all competing crews will assemble for a group photograph, where they will display a large banner featuring the words ‘Save Japan’. The photograph will take place on Playa Las Canteras at 09:45hrs on Friday.
All cars contesting the event will carry windscreen strips displaying a Japanese flag and the ‘Save Japan’ message.
