Freddy Loix has completed the opening leg of Rali Vinho Madeira with a lead of 21.1s over defending Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion Kris Meeke.

The Belgian driver underlined his dominance by going fastest on the day-closing 14.29-kilometre Referta stage in his Škoda Fabia S2000.

Jan Kopecký is third, 1.1s behind Peugeot UK driver Meeke with IRC title leader Juho Hänninen fourth.
