Light problem slows Sandell on street stage
“There was a problem with the power”
Patrik Sandell put his time loss on Thursday night’s LTV Super Special Stage down to a problem with the lights on his ŠKODA Sweden Fabia Super 2000.
Sandell was seventh fastest through the 3.20-kilometre course in Pafos, 10.7s slower than stage winner and Intercontinental Rally Challenge title contender Andreas Mikkelsen.
“There was a problem with the power, sometimes we had lights, sometimes we didn’t and that was not easy in a street stage,” said the Swede. “I was also overdoing it a bit with my driving. But the car is fixed now and today we have bright sunshine so we won’t be needing the headlights.”
Sandell is still searching for his maiden podium finish in the IRC.
“Before we had a problem in Scotland I had good pace so we will see what we can do,” he said. “The road position could be good for the first stage today on the gravel but for the second stage the positions will be reversed so we are not sure.”
