Latvala clears the penultimate hurdle
News after SS18
Rally leader Jari-Matti Latvala will take an 11 second advantage into the final stage in Finland after clearing the penultimate test without incident.
The Finn set the fastest time through the repeated 21km Leustu stage, with Sebastien Ogier his closest rival and Petter Solberg rounding off the top three times.
The top five cars tackled the test in reverse start order - as they will on the final stage - which relieved Latvala of his road sweeping position and meant he could monitor the times of his rivals using split times.
The closest battle in the top five remains the fight for third between Sebastien Loeb and the chasing Petter Solberg. Loeb will take a slender 4.2sec advantage into the decisive 20km Himos stage.
