Latvala can’t wait to go fast in Wales
Ford driver excited ahead of Britain’s WRC qualifier
Jari-Matti Latvala says he can’t wait for Wales Rally GB to get underway next week because he reckons Britain’s round of the FIA World Rally Championship will be faster than ever.
The Cardiff-based event has moved from its traditional end-of-season winter slot to the second week of September and Latvala expects the fast gravel stages will be in perfect condition.
“I like driving fast on those forest roads and it has always been a great rally,” said the Ford World Rally Team ace. “I won it last year and I have done this rally more than any other rally. I kind of feel I would have wanted the rally to be at the end of the year but now, in September, the stages should stay in a very good condition. Even if the rain comes the stages will be very grippy and you don’t need to worry about the condition of the road.”
Wales Rally GB takes place from 13-16 September. Latvala starts the event on the back of his second place finish in Germany last month, his first podium in the world championship since his victory on Rally Sweden in February.
