Kopecký set for Czech rally outing

Just three days after finishing third overall on the Prime Yalta Rally, round four of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, Škoda Motorsport has confirmed that Jan Kopecký will be back behind the wheel of one of its Fabia Super 2000 rally cars when he contests Agrotec Rally Hustopeče, a round of the Czech Republic championship, this weekend.

It will be the second time this season that the 29-year-old has competed on a round of his domestic championship following his victory on the Wallachia Rally in March alongside regular co-driver Petr Starý.

“Both Petr and I appreciate the fact that Czech fans will have a chance to see us in action after quite some time, although our agenda is indeed enormously busy,” said the two-time IRC runner-up. “We don’t have much time to prepare for the upcoming rally after the IRC event in the Ukraine that has just ended, but we will do our best to win there, of course – I guess we are not expected to have lower ambitions.”

Agrotec Rally Hustopeče runs from 10-11 June and features 12 stages over a competitive distance of 173 kilometres. The event, round four of the Czech championship, is based in the South Moravian vineyards.
