Kopecký reveals crash fear in Argentina

Jan Kopecký has revealed he came close to going off the road after encountering Kris Meeke’s stricken Peugeot 207 on the penultimate stage of Rally Argentina yesterday.

The Czech inherited Meeke’s third place when the British driver stopped with broken steering on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge round.

But he said it was hard to remain focused after spotting Meeke’s car parked up by the side of the road.

“I saw Kris on the left side and realised something had happened to him,” said Kopecký, whose third place completed an emphatic one-two-three for Škoda. “I lost a little bit of concentration and then it was very difficult to concentrate after that.”
