Kopecký leads after SS8

Kris Meeke has lost his lead of Rally Islas Canarias after picking up a puncture close to the start of the 29.95-kilometre Ingenio stage.

Meeke didn’t explain what had caused the deflation at the finish of the stage but the result is he drops from first to sixth in the overall standings.

Jan Kopecký inherits the lead and tops a Škoda one-two-three with one stage of Friday’s opening leg remaining.

Meeke’s team-mate Thierry Neuville also suffered a puncture in his similar Kronos Racing 207.
