Ibiza break boosts Block

Ken Block has come up with a new way to avoid jetlag, a two-week holiday in Ibiza.

The Monster World Rally Team star usually flies back and forth to his home in California, USA, in between his world championship appearances in his Ford Fiesta RS WRC and admits his punishing travel schedule can be arduous.

However, following Rallye de France Alsace earlier this month he jetted to the Mediterranean island for a short break with his wife and young family rather than heading back to America.

“I spent two weeks in Ibiza playing with my kids and it’s amazing,” said Block. “My co-driver Alex Gelsomino was really tired today but I feel perfectly normal. But that’s just the reality coming from where I live. It’s really hard with the schedule I’ve got. It really does take some time to adjust and it’s not just two or three days.”

Block will take the start in Salou tonight on the back of his eighth-place finish in France, his best result in the WRC to date. He is confident he can carry on that strong form in Spain.

“I had a good event in France, at least for me, and I’m very happy with the car we have now,” said Block. “I’m hoping for another top 10 finish here and now I’ve got the car where I want it to be I hope I can push a little harder.”
