IRC outings helping SKODA ace Sandell

Patrik Sandell’s participation in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge is making him even better behind the wheel.

That’s according to his navigator Staffan Parmander, who says the competitive nature of the series is improving his fellow Swede’s driving ability.

Sandell and Parmander are taking part on seven IRC events this season in their SKODA Sweden Fabia Super 2000. After three appearances, Sandell is 11th in the drivers’ table, one point adrift of a
coveted top-10 placing.

“There’s a strong level of competition in a different environment, which is what Patrik needs”, said the experienced Parmander. “Also, there are a lot of asphalt rallies, and this is something that Patrik needs as well.”

Asked where he believes Sandell can finish up at the end of the season, Parmander has high hopes for his countryman: “There’s still a long way to go in the championship so you cannot take anything for granted. It’s a long and tough year and I would like to think that we could be in the top three at the end of it.”

Sandell and Parmander return to IRC action on Barum Czech Rally Zlin at the end of August.
