Hunt turns to Neuville for Corsica tips

Former IRC 2WD Cup champion Harry Hunt has turned to last year’s winner Thierry Neuville during his preparations for Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, round four of the all-action Intercontinental Rally Challenge this week.

Neuville, whose victory last year was captured live on Eurosport, divides his programme competing in the World Rally Championship with providing tuition and set-up tips to fellow young drivers like rising British star Hunt, whom he accompanied during a two-day test in northern Italy last week.

“We had a really good couple of days although we were limited with the amount of driving we could do on one day as the conditions weren’t as good,” said Hunt. “But we found a really good set-up, and it was good to get back in the car. It was brilliant to get some pointers from Thierry too: his knowledge is vast and I learned a lot from him.”

Of his return to Corsica, the 23-year-old Hunt added: “It’s one of those legendary events with so much history and it’s an incredible event to be a part of. The roads are quite abrasive so the surface is very high grip, which I like. It’s a unique rally from what I can remember and the stages are very twisty which requires very high concentration levels.

“The two-wheel-drive entries look amazing too, especially with the legendary François Delecour taking part as well! There are some strong local drivers too, who will benefit from knowing the roads, so it’s going to be a big challenge.”
