Grosjean to race in GP2 at Hockenheim
Jérôme D’Ambrosio will give up his seat in the DAMS team for one race
Jérôme D’Ambrosio, a member of the Gravity Academy, will give up his seat in the DAMS team to Romain Grosjean at Hockenheim this weekend (Germany, 23-25 July), for the 6th round of the GP2 series.
With testing strictly controlled in this category, Gravity Sport Management has made this decision in order to analyse the reasons why the d’Ambrosio/DAMS pairing has been unable to fully unlock its potential so far this season.
Romain Grosjean, who was an F1 driver last year, scored four wins in his GP2 Series career with ART Grand Prix (2008) and Barwa Addax (2009). This season, he is racing in the FIA GT1 Championship in a Ford GT prepared by the Matech Competition team, and is lying second in the drivers’ standings. He is also racing in the AutoGP Championship with DAMS, where he is second overall despite having raced in only half the events.
Jérôme D’Ambrosio, winner of the GP2 sprint race in Monaco in May, will be back with DAMS in the following round of the GP2 Series in Budapest (30 July-1 August).
Romain Grosjean: “I’m happy to be back on the GP2 Series grid again. It’s a very hotly-contested championship in which I was aiming for the title when I was recruited for Formula 1. As always, I can’t wait to get out there on the track again and try to score the best possible result, and also to help the team solve the performance problems they’ve encountered this season. I think that is the biggest motivation for all three of us -Jérôme, Ho-Pin, myself – and I’m sure we can do a good job.”
