Toni Gardemeister has described Corsica, venue of round three of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this week, as one of his favourite places to go rallying.

Gardemeister, from Finland, has tackled the island rally on a number of occasions in the past prior to its inclusion in the IRC for this season.

He said: “It’s one of my favourite places. I like these roads and drove here several times. For the IRC [event] the roads will have a different configuration [to what I know] with three service parks. All of this is a big challenge for any team but we are happy to take part here.”

As well as driving his Škoda Fabia Super 2000, the 36-year-old Gardemeister will double as team boss of the TGS Worldwide operation he established earlier this season to contest an expanded programme of IRC rounds.

He has been a point-scorer on the opening two events of the season.
