Fauzy signs for Super Nova

Super Nova Racing is delighted to announce that Fairuz Fauzy has signed to compete in the 2011 GP2 Asia and GP2 Main Series championships for the team.

The 28 year old Malaysian racer is no stranger to the team, having driven the Super Nova car in the 2006 GP2 Series and then the 2008 GP2 Asia series, where he won a race on his way to fourth position in the championship. Since then Fairuz has continued to be successful, winning races in A1GP and Formula Renault 3.5 Series where he showed his consistency in 2009 by finishing second in the championship.

Fairuz will combine his GP2 program with reserve driver duties for Lotus Renault Formula One team.

Fairuz Fauzy:
“I am very happy to be back in GP2 and with Super Nova who I have fond memories of after the success we achieved in GP2 Asia. This year I hope to perform better than ever and I am excited to drive the new car with Pirelli tyres, to see how it compares to the Formula One car with the same tyres. GP2 is my priority this year and I aim to win as many races as possible but also consistently pick up points to keep me at the top end of the championship.”

David Sears – Team Principal:
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Fairuz Fauzy back into the Super Nova team. With the experience that he has gained in the past couple of years he should be capable of performing very well in an environment that he is happy with. I am sure that he will surprise a lot of people this year with some excellent results.”
