Exciting entry for Rally Argentina

More than 50 drivers are expected for fight for world championship glory on Rally Argentina next week following the publication of the official entry list.

Sebastien Loeb heads the runners in his Citroen DS3 WRC. The Frenchman is a five-time winner of the South American event and will be a favourite to add to his tally when the rally gets underway in Carlos Paz next Thursday (26 May).

Loeb is one of 11 drivers at the wheel of a World Rally Car in Argentina and one of four aboard Citroen’s pacesetting creation. His Citroen Total World Rally Team colleague Sebastien Ogier plus privateers Petter Solberg and Peter van Merksteijn Jr will also be relying on the car that has claimed victory on the last four WRC events.

Six Ford Fiesta RS WRCs are entered for the mainly gravel event with factory drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala leading the way in their Abu Dhabi-backed examples.

Mads Ostberg and Matthew Wilson will represent the semi-works M-Sport Stobart squad. Home hero Federico Villagra will drive for the Munchi’s outfit, while Ken Block is back on WRC duty for the Monster World Rally Team after skipping the previous rounds in Jordan and Italy.

Daniel Oliveira is the lone MINI representative in South America. The Brazilian was one of four drivers to give the John Cooper Works WRC its debut on Rally d’Italia Sardegna earlier this month and has high hopes for his ‘home’ event.

Rally Argentina hosts round three of the Production Car World Rally Championship. Ten PWRC regulars have nominated the event as one of their six scoring rounds while two Argentine drivers, Alejandro Levy and Ezequiel Campos, have been nominated to chase PWRC points by the event organisers under the wildcard entry system. Briton Harry Hunt will be the lone FIA Production Cup representative in his two-wheel-drive Citroen DS3 R3
