Despair for Renault ace Consani

Robert Consani’s hopes of an IRC Production Cup and IRC 2WD Cup title double have been dealt a blow after the French ace retired his Renault Mégane RS on Rallye Sanremo this morning.

Consani was leading the standings in both categories starting the asphalt event in Italy’s Liguria region and was on course to extend his advantage in both divisions alongside co-driver Nicolas Klinger.

He was running 15th on the road this morning and was second in the IRC Production Cup classification and fifth in the IRC 2WD Cup results when he hit trouble on stage six with reports that he suffered an impact.
