Delecour not confident of keeping podium

François Delecour will start the final four stages of Rallye Monte-Carlo tonight fearing that he might not be able to hang on to his second place.

Delecour, 48, is driving a privateer Peugeot 207, which he says is not running to the same latest specification as the factory-backed car of leader Bryan Bouffier.

“I am really not confident to stay on the podium,” said the former Rallye Monte-Carlo winner. “I push until the end of course but to be on the podium will be difficult. We have not done much testing and don’t have the best set-up or the budget that some of the other teams do.”

Delecour, who is making his Intercontinental Rally Challenge debut, will tackle famous final night stages, including two climbs of the Col de Turini, for the 15th time this year.
