Ghislain De Mevius will follow in the footsteps of his famous father Gregoire when he contests the GEKO Ypres Rally from 23-25 June.

The Belgian youngster will chase IRC 2WD Cup honours in his Kronos Racing-run Peugeot 207 RC alongside new co-driver Eric Borguet, who will accompany him for the remainder of the year.

“I love driving in Belgium generally and in Ypres in particular where the atmosphere is unique and fantastic,” said De Mevius. “Ypres went very well for me last year as I won my class. For this year, I want to enjoy myself first of all on these roads that are so fast and specialised. I’m driving the only 207 RC to take the start. This means that it’s difficult for me to make comparisons with the others but it doesn’t mean that I’m going to be hanging around either. The higher up I am in the classification the happier I will be.”

One driver aiming to finish ahead of De Mevius in the final classification will be Estonian Martin Kangur, who is contesting an expanded programme of IRC events in a Honda Civic Type R.
