Co-driver change no concern for IRC 2WD Cup ace Consani

Robert Consani says his change of co-driver for this week’s Sibiu Rally won’t affect his chances of success in the IRC 2WD Cup section of the gravel event.

Consani, from France, will be reunited with Cedric Beynet, who partnered him on SATA Rallye Açores in February, because his regular co-driver Nicolas Klinger has a clashing commitment.

“This was planned since the start of the year and it’s no problem that Nicolas has to be away for this weekend: I understand the situation,” said Consani. “I have taken my old co-driver for this rally and we have a good feeling together, so I don’t think we will have any difficulties in that area."

Consani will pilot a Renault Clio R3 on the Romanian round, the first time that the Intercontinental Rally Challenge has visited the Eastern European county.

He is currently equal third in the IRC 2WD Cup standings having lost out on a strong points finish on Rally San Marino earlier this month when his car suffered terminal engine failure seven kilometres from the finish of the final stage.
