Bouffier: I tried everything

Bryan Bouffier has revealed how he gave his all to win the International Jännerrallye but added that he simply lost out to a faster driver on the day.

Driving a Peugeot 207 Super 2000, Bouffier was defeated by ŠKODA’s Jan Kopecký on the FIA European Rally Championship counter by half a second in a dramatic finish.

“I tried to drive very well but it was a very complicated race and you needed a big heart when you went through a corner and found a lot of mud,” said Bouffier. “Maybe if I’d been 0.6s quicker on my start [I could have won] and for sure you can find so many places where you can be quicker but Jan was completely flying and in the end it was not possible to keep the distance to Jan.”

Bouffier, who was making his Jännerrallye debut alongside stand-in co-driver Olivier Fournier, added: “It was a fantastic weekend and it’s always very good to drive against a great team and great driver like Jan. It would be better to win but I’m very satisfied with this second place.”
