Block yearns for Rally GB rerun
American ace could have shown greater pace in Monster Fiesta
Ken Block has told WRC.com that he would love to be able to turn the clock back and start Wales Rally GB all over again despite scoring points on the world championship finale.
The American ace reckons he could have finished higher than ninth had he been able to make more changes to his pace notes to up his speed behind the wheel of his Monster World Rally Team Ford Fiesta RS WRC.
“I’m really disappointed my times weren’t better over the weekend but I really don’t have that much experience in these conditions,” said the Gymkhana FOUR star. “I really enjoyed it, it’s a legendary event and the forests are so incredible. But I would love to go do the recce again now. I’d be able to change my notes a lot to be able to gain some more speed.”
Despite his frustrations, Block relished his trip to Wales. “The stages here are unique and it was a really good learning experience for me. For me the position was just down to a war of attrition that I ended up in ninth rather than through my outright speed. But it feels good to have finished because I was really disappointed to have had a mechanical issue last year and not to have been able to finish. I was able to get all the stages in this year. Apart from one little mistake we had a pretty clean run. It’s also great to see how enthusiastic the fans are in Wales.”
