Even though entries for Rally Internacional de Curitiba don’t officially close until 1 March, organisers are confident of a strong turnout of competitors after 38 crews took part in 2009.

“We are expecting six cars from Europe, maybe more and there will be 10 or 12 really good drives from South America,” said event promoter Marcos Marcola. “In all we expect to have 50 cars and we are quite happy with that number.”

Among those set to enter the gravel-based rally are Juho Hänninen and Jan Kopecký in a pair of factory Škoda Motorsport Fabia S2000, plus defending IRC champion Kris Meeke in a Peugeot UK 207 S2000.

Rally Internacional de Curitiba, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and appears on the IRC schedule for the second time, takes place from 4-6 March.
