Basso to recce for Rally of Scotland

Giandomenico Basso will drive through the stages of RACMSA Rally of Scotland this week – but not at competitive speeds.

The PROTON Motorsports star is not entered for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event but will undertake the pre-rally reconnaissance with co-driver Mitia Dotta to build their knowledge of the gravel round in case they get the opportunity to contest the rally in the future.

Basso is not scheduled to contest any further rounds of the IRC this season following confirmation that PROTON will enter PG Andersson and Alister McRae in Scotland. That will mean his run to 10th overall on Rallye Sanremo last month could be his last contribution of the season.

“That was like a victory for me because I pushed very hard to get a result after some problems with the spin and going off,” said Basso, whose performance on home ground was widely praised.

RACMSA Rally of Scotland will take place from 7-9 October
