Bad luck to blame for Kangur exit, says Honda co-driver

Martin Kangur’s co-driver Andres Ots says “bad luck” was to blame for their exit from Barum Czech Rally Zlín on Saturday.

The Catwees Honda Racing pair crashed out on the fourth stage of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event in their JAS Motorsport-prepared Civic Type R, which sustained damage to the front-left suspension in the process.

“We were not taking risks, the pacenotes were good and it was nothing to do with the puncture we had on the previous stage,” said Ots. “It was just bad luck because sometimes you had grip and sometimes you didn’t. Then where we didn’t have grip the car suddenly went off. It was a question of bad luck.”

Kangur had been one of the favourites for the IRC 2WD Cup on the all-asphalt event, which is currently being led by the Czech Jan Černý, who moved in front when long-time leader Robert Consani, in a Renault Mégane, stopped at the end of stage 10 with a broken engine.
