Report says Berger turned down FIA role

Gerhard Berger has revealed he is unlikely to return to formula one any time soon.

After retiring as a ten-time winner in 1997, the likeable Austrian served as joint BMW motor sport director and he then co-owned the Toro Rosso team until 2009.

Italy’s Autosprint reports that the 52-year-old was recently offered a role at the governing body by FIA president Jean Todt.

But he is quoted as saying: "I no longer want to be always on the go."

As for any other opportunities, Germany’s Speed Week quotes Berger adding: "There is nothing I can see."
