Hamilton will try everything possible

Lewis Hamilton has insisted he will try everything possible to take victory at this weekends British Grand Prix, after suffering a late and frustrating blow to his race last time out in Valencia. The Briton collided with the Williams of Pastor Maldonado, and subsequently retired with only two laps remaining.

After McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh hinted that Lewis Hamilton should potentially change his driving style when racing against the Venezuelan, the 2008 World Champion has stated he will continue to race for victory. With the next race at Hamilton’s home track at Silverstone, there is more than enough incentive for the energetic Briton to race with even more vigor to achieve victory.

“It [the incident with Maldonado] doesn’t really alter the way I go racing because I race to win, and that’s what I’ll be doing, especially at my home Grand Prix.” Explained Lewis Hamilton, “The Santander British Grand Prix is special because I get a massive boost from all the fans. To me, winning at Silverstone is right up there with winning at Monaco. Standing on the top step of the podium in 2008 was among the sweetest moments of my career. We’re going to give it everything we’ve got, put on a great show. This is an incredible summer of sport for Britain and I want to play my small part in bringing some joy to fans. I will be doing everything possible to get a win for my country on home soil.”

Lewis Hamilton’s last victory on home soil was back in 2008, when the McLaren driver stormed through the inclement weather to victory by over a minute from the BMW Sauber of Nick Heidfeld and the Honda of Rubens Barrichello. The dominant Briton was able to lap every driver except Heidfeld and Barrichello, and will be striving to repeat such a result this weekend. However, with the unpredictability of the 2012 season, Lewis Hamilton will have a tough weekend keeping the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso at bay.
