GP2 champion Romain Grosjean tests R29 in Valencia
Romain is now the official Lotus Renault reserve driver
Freshly-crowned GP2 champion, and Lotus Renault GP third driver, Romain Grosjean has completed 600 kilometres of testing for the team in Valencia, at the wheel of the R29, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The aim of the test was to provide Romain with his second taste of F1 and to allow him to familiarise himself with an F1 car again.
"It is always fantastic to get back in an F1 car. The aim of the drive was to get me used to drive an F1 car again. We did some qualifying running in the morning and some long running in the afternoon. We also did some pit stop practices. It was very good for the fitness; I was very pleased and I did enjoy working with the team a lot. It felt different compared to 2009 because I am more experienced now. I enjoyed the car from the moment I jumped in and I enjoyed working with the engineers. We had a good time in Valencia and everybody enjoyed it," said Grosjean.
Romain is now the official Lotus Renault reserve driver following Bruno Senna’s promotion to race driver. As a result he will attend the season-ending fly-away races and work closely with the team now that the GP2 season has finished. It is the first time that Romain has been on driving duty for the team since his GP2-season with Dams came to the close at Monza last weekend.
