Vizin: I never dreamt Yalta podium (…)

László Vizin says he’d never even dreamt of finishing on the podium on the Prime Yalta Rally, round 10 of the all-action Intercontinental Rally Challenge, last weekend.

Vizin, from Hungary, finished third on the asphalt event in Ukraine in a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 and admitted afterwards that the result was exceeded his expectations.

“I am still on the moon,” he said. “This third place was my best ever result. I cannot say it is a dream come true, because I have never dreamt about finishing third in an IRC race.”

The 58-year-old Vizin, known by his home fans as ‘Father Laci’, continued: “The Yalta Rally was a very difficult race and needed maximum concentration. With my co-driver we worked very hard for this result. It was also very nice to get not only my first ever IRC podium, but also the first one to my country. Hungary has a lot of very talented young drivers so I hope my record will be beaten very soon.

“I would like to say thank you to the organisers for this fantastic podium ceremony, which made this result even sweeter.”

Vizin has been a regular in the IRC for the past four seasons, most notably in the IRC 2WD Cup in a Honda Civic Type R. This year marks his first in a Fabia S2000. He plans to return for the season-closing Cyprus Rally in November.
