Solberg delighted with his pace
“Today has been really good”
Petter Solberg may have lost one place in the classification, but he was delighted as he reached the parc fermé at the end of day two of Rally France.
The Norwegian had a good day at the office, setting a great pace through the stages and adding two more stage wins to his tally.
It was not all plain sailing though as he picked up a puncture in the morning and dropped thirty seconds. He lost the lead of the rally and slipped down to third place.
As he was setting the same pace of the leaders, despite having some front right suspension damage, he couldn’t close the gap and ended the day some 50 seconds off the lead.
“ Today has been really good”, says Petter Solberg. “The car is so fast and it is fantastic to drive, and I actually think I could win a rally with it as it is now. Unfortunately we had a puncture that cost us a lot of time. Also, when the rubber came off it damaged the damper a bit, so it has not been 110% during the afternoon. Still we have been setting really good times today!”
Rally de France Alsace continues with six stages on Sunday, including the Haguenau Power Stage through Sebastien Loeb’s hometown, which will be broadcast live on TV. The first car will be on the road from 0718 local time.
