Monteiro encounters engine problems in Brno
"The car loses power and has no propulsion"
For Tiago Monteiro and SEAT Sun-Red the disappointment is as great as their expectations were in installing the new 1.6 liter Turbo engine in the SEAT Leon. On the Czech Republic’s Brno circuit, the Portuguese FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) driver was plagued by engine problems as soon as he came out of the pits on Saturday morning. Tiago could not manage to complete a decent lap before the qualifying session, and was not able to truly take part in qualifying. He will start from the back rows of the starting grid in both races.
Tiago has no hope in succeeding with the SEAT Leon 1.6 liter turbo engine, which he is trying out in competition for the first time this weekend, acting the way it was but he has not lost his optimism, convinced that his teams technical and human qualities will enable him to have an effective car come race time. "We have five new engines, two of which gave us problems. The car loses power and has no propulsion. The team has been trying to solve this problem since yesterday and is still looking for solutions. I am not especially confident for the races but I hope at least to have a car that can be driven in order to gain some experience," Tiago declared.
