Michelisz plans WTCC fight back in Morocco
"After making a really strong start to the season"
Norbert Michelisz has vowed to get his – and Honda’s – FIA World Touring Car Championship season back on track in Morocco this week.
Michelisz endured a luckless home race weekend in Hungary last month, while the factory Honda squad returned to its team base in Italy 40 points adrift of Citroën in the Manufacturers’ championship skirmish having topped the table prior to the trip to Budapest.
“After making a really strong start to the season with two podiums and consistent points-scoring finishes, it was a disappointing that we had so much bad luck at my home event in Hungary,” said Michelisz, who beat Moroccan hero Mehdi Bennani to the WTCC Trophy title in 2015. “But to get as high as P6 from the back of the grid in the Main Race showed the speed of the Civic. I’m looking forward to getting my season back on track in Morocco and with just over half the compensation weight we had in Hungary on the car, I’m confident we can have another strong showing as we try together to put Honda back on top in the Manufacturers’ championship.”
All Honda Civic WTCCs competing in WTCC AFRIQUIA Race of Morocco will carry 40 kilograms of success ballast in Marrakech, half the amount fitted to each Citroën C-Elysée WTCC.
