Loeb hints at Le Mans future

Seven-time world champion Sebastien Loeb would fancy another shot at the Le Mans 24 Hours motor race in the future.

The Citroen Total World Rally Team star, currently 13 points clear in the chase for the 2011 WRC title, has contested the round-the-clock enduro on two occasions in the past, finishing second overall in a Pescarolo Sport C60 Hybrid in 2006.

Clashing commitments with his Citroen WRC campaign have kept him away from the event in recent years. But with his participation in the world championship unclear beyond this season, Loeb could be in line for a return to the famous French race.

Loeb was a visitor to the event last week as a guest of Peugeot Sport, the sister company to Citroen Racing. During an interview on satellite television channel Eurosport, the 37-year-old said he wouldn’t rule out competing at Le Mans again.

“Maybe, I think everything’s possible,” said Loeb. “At the moment I don’t know exactly what I will do in the future. For sure it’s an exciting race so why not.”

With this year’s Le Mans taking place one week prior to the Acropolis Rally, Loeb insisted his main focus was on his WRC title bid alongside co-driver Daniel Elena.

“It’s a pleasure to come here but the priority is the rally,” he said. “For sure it’s a fantastic race and I came for that reason. I knew before I would not drive the car here but it was a free weekend and I came to see the start.”
