Elena prepared for fun Rallye Monte-Carlo

Daniel Elena insists his sole priority on Rallye Monte-Carlo will be to have as much fun as possible.

The Monegasque, world champion co-driver on seven occasions alongside Sébastien Loeb, will drive a Citroën DS3 R3 in the IRC 2WD Cup section of the asphalt event.

“The most important thing for me is to have fun,” said the 38-year-old. “I don’t have much experience of this car, I just drove for 50 kilometres and it is completely different to the C2 I drive for fun each year on another rally. There is so much more power with the turbo engine – I think the only thing that is in the same place is the gearbox and steering wheel. The first stage for me will be like a test stage.”

Elena will be co-driven by Olivier Campana, who partnered him when he drove on Rallye Monte-Carlo in 1997 and 1998. “He is my best friend and we have a good relationship in the car. It is a special race and it is great that we are doing it together.
