Confident Ostberg to be more attacking

Mads Ostberg says he will be more inclined to push harder and be less cautious on Philips Rally Argentina next week.

Ostberg, the man of the moment following his victory on Vodafone Rally de Portugal earlier this month, is full of confidence heading to South America now that he’s registered his maiden success in the FIA World Rally Championship powered by Nokia.

“My confidence is already good but maybe now I can be more confident to push more and take more risks,” said Ostberg. “I obviously don’t want to crash but I certainly feel I can take more risks now and push harder. I know I can handle very difficult conditions now so I’m happy with that.”

Ostberg’s triumph, in the aftermath of Mikko Hirvonen’s exclusion due to a technical infringement, has propelled the young Norwegian to third position in the WRC drivers’ standings, 13 points behind leader Sebastien Loeb.

“We have had a great start to the season and are now in a very good position in the drivers’ championship,” said Ostberg, who pilots a Ford Fiesta RS WRC for the Adapta World Rally Team. “We won’t be aiming for a podium in Argentina, but once we return to more familiar events we’ll certainly be pushing for more.”
