Webber tops final Singapore practice
Ahead of the qualifying session
Preparation for the Singapore Grand Prix came to an end with a final practice session.
Mark Webber concluded it on top but was only marginally faster than McLaren’s Jenson Button who had an encouraging session in contrast to yesterday.
Sebastian Vettel, in the second Red Bull, was third quickest, two tenths of a second behind his teammate. The German, however, was hampered by traffic.
Fernando Alonso set the fourth fastest time at the wheel of his Ferrari but had a big moment as he brushed the wall. Lewis Hamilton also had a tough time, damaging his car’s floor over a kerb. He was 0.8s slower than the leading Red Bull.
Once again, the top five were in a class of their own. The Mercedes drivers were the best of the rest, but almost a second down on the top five. Nico Rosberg narrowly won the battle with his teammate Michael Schumacher, beating him by just six thousandths of a second.
Felipe Massa was eighth fastest, 2.6s off the pace. Kamui Kobayashi and Adrian Sutil completed the top ten.
