Jean-Eric Vergne will start from pit-lane
Toro Rosso will hope the changes have a positive effect
After suffering a less than successful qualifying session, Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne will unfortunately start the Chinese Grand Prix from the pit-lane, instead of his qualifying position of 18th. This has come after his team made changes to his Toro Rosso during the night.
The Toro Rosso mechanics have made significant changes to Vergne’s car, including changes to the cars floor, barge board, side-pod wing, T-tray and side-pod inlet. Due to the strict regulations regarding parc ferme conditions once qualifying has ended, any changes to the car means the driver in question will be forced to start from the pit-lane, in this case Jean-Eric Vergne.
Toro Rosso will be hoping these changes will have a positive effect on Vergne’s race pace, after a disastrous qualifying session which saw the Frenchman drop out of qualifying after Q1 with the likes of Caterham, Marussia and HRT.
