WRC - SS10: Solberg’s charge continues

Superspecial win brings Solberg even closer to Hirvonen

10 February 2012 - 20h15, by www.wrc.com

Petter Solberg completed Friday of Rally Sweden with a second straight stage victory as he closed a little further on second place by winning the evening superspecial.

The Ford driver had closed right in on Mikko Hirvonen by winning stage nine, and then clipped another second from his Citroen rival’s advantage by going quickest on stage 10 as well.

That performance means Solberg ended the day 1.8s behind Hirvonen, and 18.6s behind his rally-leading team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala, who was fourth on the superspecial.

Ford trio Mads Ostberg, Evgeny Novikov and Henning Solberg still complete the top six, followed by the recovering Sebastien Loeb (Citroen), who was second to Solberg on the superspecial.
