Symtech Racing ready for desert challenge in Jordan

Following a successful maiden outing in Mexico, Polish driver Michal Kosciuszko returns for his next Super 2000 World Rally Championship round on this weekend’s Jordan Rally. Once more he will be at the wheel of the Dynamic World Rally Team Ford Fiesta S2000 run by Belgium’s Symtech Racing.

On his first rally of the inaugural SWRC, Kosciuszko was the star of the show. The 24-year-old set nine fastest stage times - more than any other competitor - and finished on the podium, despite being held back by some mechanical problems.

Following the Central American event, the brand new Fiesta returned to Symtech’s Grobbendonk base to be re-prepared for Jordan. Having got to the bottom of the teething troubles that delayed the crew in Mexico, Symtech Racing is now confident of a strong performance in Jordan.

The all-gravel event has only been on the World Rally Championship once before, in 2008, and it is based around the Dead Sea resort close to Amman. The desert stages are characterised by soft and sandy gravel on top of a hard base, which will provide a huge challenge for both mean and machines. Luckily Kosciuszko, who is backed by Lotos Dynamic, dedicates plenty of time to physical training that will prepare him well for the high temperatures and tough conditions in Jordan.

Michal Kosciuszko : "Mexico showed us just how competitive we could be, despite the fact that we had very little testing before the start. Now we hope to continue like this in Jordan, but without the little problems that prevented us from having an even better result in Mexico. I’m quite confident that we will manage this, even though we are up against an extremely high quality field of rivals. I think Jordan will be quite a complex event, where we will face a wide variety of conditions, so it will be important to take an intelligent approach and make some good pace notes. It’s a long and competitive championship, so we have to always look at the bigger picture."

Symtech Racing’s Wim de Boeck : "Mexico was an extremely encouraging debut for us in the Super 2000 World Rally Championship and we look forward to showing our speed again in Jordan. It is going to be a very different type of rally though: we will have to deal with some very tricky conditions and as always the most important thing is to get to the finish."

The Jordan Rally will get underway from the historic city of Jerash during the morning of Thursday 1 April and will finish in the afternoon of Saturday 3 April, after 21 special stages and 346 competitive kilometres.
