Loix to capitalise on Zlin momentum in Hungary
“I think I can do quite okay there”
BFO-SKODA driver Freddy Loix hopes his run to second place on Barum Czech Rally Zlin last week will boost his chances when the Intercontinental Rally Challenge resumes on the Canon Mecsek Rallye from 9-11 September.
Loix has never tackled the Hungarian asphalt round before but will be aiming to capitalise on the momentum created during his impressive performance in the Czech Republic when he came within a whisker of claiming victory.
“I was missing a little bit the rhythm at the start [in Zlin] because my last rally was in Ypres [at the end of June]”, said Loix. “For the first four stages I was looking to get the set-up right but then I was feeling confident and I did a good race. Hungary will be a new rally but I’m in the rhythm now so I think I can do quite okay there.”
Belgian Loix is 10 points behind Juho Hanninen in the IRC drivers’ standings heading to Hungary. He added: “Because I don’t do all the rallies it’s more important to win than to be second. I have to try to be faster in Hungary.”
