WTCC cars to travel around the world

After a series of seven events that followed each other over eleven weeks, the WTCC faces now a 45-day break before the eighth race meeting of the season takes place at Curitiba, Brazil on 22 July.

By next week cars and parts will be gathered at Antwerp harbour and packed into 26 containers, before leaving for a long trip around the world that will last nearly six months. The cargo ship is due to set sail on 21 June to the Brazilian port of Santos, where her arrival is estimated on 5 July.

This will be only the first leg of the journey that will resume after the Curitiba event and will see the cars shipped to Oakland, Nagoya, Shanghai and Macau for the following race meetings.

After the season finale at Macau on 18 November, the WTCC freight will be shipped back from Hong Kong to Antwerp, where it is due to arrive on 5 January 2013.
