USF1 rumours continue

The silence from the new USF1 team is positively deafening. On January 25th the team announced that it had signed Jose Maria Lopez to spearhead it’s on track challenge, but since then nothing.

Peter Windsor said that the team would be testing in ‘early February’ in Alabama, but so far there has been no sign of activity while Lopez himself claims that a test is more likely in late February. Bernie Ecclestone meanwhile has been positively downbeat about their chances of making the field in Bahrain.

GMM has reported that the team’s Charlotte headquarters are up for sale, even though the team has a lease through to the end of 2014 and that a number of key staff members have now departed, including YouTube founder Chad Hurley. This has not been confirmed by the team, but then again little has.

News from the team itself regarding their progress is limited to a Twitter account claiming that ‘things should become a lot clearer’ this coming week.

That remains to be seen.
