Title the target for Schumacher
"We can really only aim for one target"
Speaking at the livery launch of the new Mercedes GP team today in Germany, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher reiterated his desire to claim championship success with the Anglo-German team.
"Mercedes was the one to initiate my Formula One debut, now I am able to return to Mercedes - hopefully with good results and give back something," Schumacher said. "We can really only aim for one target - that is winning the championship. It is very easy to say this... it is very hard to do and that’s why we have three years in front of us and our target is to achieve."
One challenge the driver will have to face this year is the ban on refuelling. The cars will therefore start the race with a much heavier fuel load in the past. Schumacher however does not see this as a major issue for the drivers as they adapt to the changes.
"You don’t have refuelling but you still have stops for tyre change," he explained. "At the end of the day the driver still has to drive and to cope, but I don’t think it is going to be a big difference in the driver’s point of view. I really look forward to the final testing that will start next week.”
