StefanGP reaffirm F1 hopes
Faith in correct decision being taken
Following something of an outburst in which the team was openly critical of the sport’s governing body and the failing USF1 team, StefanGP today made a more measured approach to try and appease the FIA and achieve its objective of being accepted into the championship.
“SGP would like to re-confirm its desire and, importantly, its ability to compete in the whole of the FIA 2010 Formula One World Championship,” a statement read. “It recognises that this can only happen with the consent of the FIA and the FOM, but has faith that the Formula One ’family’ will make the correct decision in the end.
“There will be no more press releases on this subject and we look forward to being allowed to show everyone our team in Bahrain.”
The situation - as it stands - is uncertain as USF1 has requested that it skips the opening four rounds of the championship.
The FIA reportedly visited the team’s Charlotte base last week to assess the team’s likelihood of competing even at a later stage.
Until the FIA declare that USF1 are unable to compete, StefanGP simply cannot race despite the fact that it has shipped equipment to the Sakhir circuit.
The Serbian-based team therefore hopes that common sense will prevail.
