Sergio Perez is targeting another improvement in qualifying for the German Grand Prix, after the Mexican driver suffered yet another dismal grid position at the British Grand Prix last time out. Perez started the race from 15th on the grid, whereas team-mate Kamui Kobayashi started even further back in 17th.

Although the Sauber outfit have already finished on the podium twice so far this season, both thanks to Sergio Perez, the Hinwil-based outfit have also endured three races without scoring a single point. The British Grand Prix was another of those disappointing weekends, as Sergio Perez failed to finish due to a collision with Pastor Maldonado and Kamui Kobayashi only managed 11th.

“I am looking forward to what will be my first Formula One race in Hockenheim.” Explained Sergio Perez, “I have good memories of the circuit from GP2 times when I won there. For us it remains important to do better in qualifying, so our Saturday performance is what we have to focus on first. Our car is quick and if we could just get everything right this time we have good chances for a nice race result.”

With there being no Swiss Grand Prix on the current Formula 1 calendar, the German Grand Prix is the closest Sauber will get to a home race this season. With that being the case, there is all the more incentive for the team to bring home a competitive result. Their highest ever finish at the German Grand Prix was 4th in 2008, when local hero Nick Heidfeld was driving for the then BMW Sauber team.
