Romain Grosjean frustrated by traffic in Malaysia
"I spent a lot of time stuck behind Felipe"
It’s been a trying weekend for Romain, who leaves Sepang somewhat aggrieved at missed opportunities. More motivation than ever then, to bounce back in Shanghai…
That looked like a tricky one out there…
It was a tough race, starting wet and finishing dry, but that’s what you expect in Malaysia. The start was pretty tight and I didn’t get away too cleanly off the line, so from there we were always fighting back a little bit. There were a few good periods where the car showed good pace, but it was not easy.
Do you think more was possible today?
I spent a lot of time stuck behind Felipe [Massa] in the middle phase of the race and I’m sure if I could have passed him earlier then I would have stayed ahead, but by the end my tyres were finished so it was best just to let him through. There were a couple of times where maybe the backmarkers could have made things easier too…
Given the challenges of the weekend as a whole, are you satisfied with that result?
I think we can be quite happy with where we finished today. For sure you always want to be at the front and it’s not what we would have wanted at the beginning of the weekend, but at the end of the day it’s more points for the team and we’ll try to come back stronger in Shanghai.
