The Renault F1 Team today announced its full endorsement of the FIA’s Make Roads Safe campaign, part of the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety that aims to save five million lives worldwide over the next decade.

In addition to branding on the mainplane of the front wing, the Renault F1 R30 will feature the Make Roads Safe logo and web address below the sidepods. Furthermore, beginning this weekend in Melbourne, the Make Roads Safe campaign will be incorporated into Renault F1 Team’s promotional activities with Renault subsidiaries around the world in order to raise awareness of road safety issues in individual countries.

The Make Roads Safe campaign is aligned with Renault’s corporate commitment to global road safety. Last November, during the conference at which the UN Decade of Action on Road Safety was announced, Renault reaffirmed its commitment to the Global Road Safety Initiative, a collaboration between seven major automotive groups (including Renault) that finances and promotes road safety initiatives in China, Brazil and the ASEAN region.

Eric Boullier, Team Principal of the Renault F1 Team, said: “We are proud to endorse Make Roads Safe in order to help raise awareness of this important campaign. Our commitment to Make Roads Safe, and to working with the FIA to implement the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, is in line with the commitment of the Renault Group, particularly through its renewed commitment to the Global Road Safety Initiative (GRSI).”

Jean Todt, FIA President, said: “I welcome Renault F1’s commitment to the Make Roads Safe campaign and the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. Our aim is help save 5 million lives over the next 10 years. In order to achieve this it is important that the entire motor sport and automotive community work together in a new partnership for safety.”
