Red Bull aiming to improve in qualifying

Red Bull are aiming to improve their qualifying performance at next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, as the reigning Champions aim to continue their winning ways after a relatively successful Singapore Grand Prix. Although Sebastian Vettel was able to take victory, qualifying has remained the teams achilles-heel throughout a race weekend.

As the Formula 1 circus prepares for the Japanese Grand Prix around the fabulous Suzuka circuit, Red Bull are targeting yet another victory as the Championship draws to a thrilling conclusion. The Milton Keynes based outfit are currently leading the Constructors’ Championship, however their drivers are still behind the ever-dominant Ferrari of Fernando Alonso in the Drivers’ Championship.

With the Spaniard looking almost unbeatable at the top of the Championship, Red Bull understand that an improvement in their qualifying performance is imperative if either Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber wish to remain Championship contenders. For the last few races, both drivers have struggled with pace in comparison to others and have floundered around the midfield, with Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber failing to progress to the top ten shootout at the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix respectively.

“I’m looking forward to the Japanese Grand Prix as it’s an opportunity to get a top result again on a track I enjoy driving on.” Explained Mark Webber, “Qualifying has not been as strong for us recently and we know this has to be improved. We are focusing on that and, once that’s better, we can make a strong push towards being better positioned at the end of Grands Prix.”

Red Bull have enjoyed a tremendous qualifying history at Suzuka, with Sebastian Vettel claiming pole position for the last three year’s for the team. On two of those occasions, the German was able to take victory for Red Bull, however last year saw the McLaren of Jenson Button thwart the reigning Champion. It’s clear that both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel have their eyes firmly fixed on success, as this highly unique season draws to a close.
