Pirelli Test : Alonso fastest on (…)

Fernando Alonso set the fastest time of the 2nd day of Pirelli testing today.

The Ferrari driver completed more than a hundred laps of the Yas Marina Circuit as he got to grips with the Italian manufacturer’s tyres. He lapped consistently and was less than two tenths of a second faster than an impressive Michael Schumacher.

The German was second fastest for Mercedes which was quite surprising given his teammate Nico Rosberg was not convinced by the Pirelli front tyres yesterday.

The World Champion Sebastian Vettel was third fastest ahead of Rubens Barrichello and Robert Kubica.

The day was trouble-free, apart from a spin from HRT’s Pastor Maldonado.

Today was the final day of testing of 2010. The Formula One field now enters into the winter break and will be back on track in February.
