Lopez to defect to Campos?

While the status of USF1 remains shrouded in mystery, it seems Campos Meta is busy restructuring to ensure that it can make the field in Bahrain.

According to AutoWeek, current USF1 driver Jose Maria Lopez is set to leave the team to line up alongside Bruno Senna at Campos.

His management team confirmed that meetings with USF1 have now taken place with further discussions are to follow.

"We would like to inform that yesterday, Jose Maria Lopez Sr visited USF1 headquarters in Charlotte to be in contact with the team’s directors," read a statement.

Lopez and his management team left the Charlotte base for London with "a clear understanding of the team’s current situation."

Colin Kolles, closely linked with the restructured Campos Meta team, told AutoWeek that an announcement regarding the status of the team is imminent.
